History

Southern Districts Touch Football Association (SDTA) was formed in 1982 by Neil ‘Molly’ Collins with the help of friends and family. Being originally situated at Windsor Park in South Perth, our Association initially consisted of a competition of ten teams comprising of 12 individuals each, with members being recruited from the local South Perth area.

In 1985, SDTA was relocated to Edinburgh Oval at Curtin University  in Bentley. SDTA’s competition grew to consist of 32 teams, primarily due to the increase in playing grounds available at this new location.

The SDTA committee hired the rugby clubrooms at this location on competition nights and operated a small canteen and bar. All equipment for the competition was brought to and from the oval each week as there was no storage space available in the clubrooms.

Since 1994, SDTA has been at it’s current home – George Burnett Park, Karawara. South Perth Rugby League Club built the facility and accepted SDTA to be the second user of the venue.

George Burnett Park and the SPRLC clubrooms have been the home of SDTA ever since.
